We play 3-on-3 ice hockey with these rules:
Offside and Icing: There is no offside or icing.
After a goal: All players on the team that scored must exit the offensive zone before any of them can re-enter the offensive zone or play the puck in the offensive zone.
When a goalie freezes the puck: Each player on the attacking team must exit the offensive zone before playing the puck—but doesn’t have to wait for teammates to exit.
When the puck goes over the boards: Possession of the puck is given to the team that did not touch the puck last. Play continues as if the goalie had frozen the puck.
If there is only one goalie: Teams switch sides after the first goal after 10 minutes.
Safety: Be careful not to hurt anyone!
- Keep your stick down.
- Be aware of which players don’t have full pads or helmets.
- Before you shoot, be sure the puck won’t hit someone without pads or hit someone’s face.
- Be careful chasing players into the corners. Especially players without helmets. And yourself.
- If you are on the bench without your helmet, watch out for the puck.
- Make sure your friends and family watch from a safe place, where they won’t be hit by a puck.
